As some of you may know already, I am a minister at a deliverance / evangelical ministry. A lot of you may not be familiar with deliverance or understand what exactly it is and how it benefits the children of God and Jesus’ Church.
Let me explain. Jesus had a deliverance ministry. As Jesus walked the earth with his disciples, everywhere He went, people got healed and demons were cast out of them.
Let’s look at the NLT, Matthew 4: 23-24. It reads:
23: Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news (gospel) of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. 24: News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.
Let’s also take a look Luke:4: 36 It reads:
All the people were amazed and said to each other, “What is this teaching? With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits and they come out!”
Again, let’s look at Luke 4:40-41. It reads: When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. 41: Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Christ.
People, this is deliverance. Everyone needs it. And God wants His people saved, healed, delivered and walking in the spirit. Not only did Jesus heal his people, he removed the demons that influenced them to do evil, so that the people would be free to obey His commandments. Deliverance is having the freedom to obey God and live according to His Word.
The bible says that, “Obedience is better than sacrifice.” Isaiah 1:19 says, “If you be willing and obedient, then ye shall eat the good of the land."
To truly show our love for God, we must be obedient children of God. God does not want children who like him, God wants children who love him. God is not a God of convenience, He is a God of commitment. This walk that we walk must become a lifestyle.
"Not my will, but your will be done," must become our attitude. This is true freedom. “Those that Jesus have set free are free indeed.”
The Anointing
The yokes of bondage that imprison God’s people can be broken by the anointing of God. In the KJV, Isaiah 10:27 reads:
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”
It takes the anointing of God to deliver God’s people. Not everyone is anointed. Not everyone wants to be delivered. God will not deliver you, unless you want to be delivered.
I have seen so many churches with God’s people all yoked up, and no anointing present. Perhaps the pastors were not called of God, or maybe the preachers themselves were not delivered and preaching with no power and no anointing. Whatever the case may have been, souls going to heaven is the number one priority in this life. There is nothing in life more important than the saving of souls. To save souls, the bible says we must be wise.
The bible also says that “My people perish from the lack of knowledge." God’s people must be taught the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The anointing will change your life. The anointing will heal, save and deliver God’s people.
Lets look at another scripture from Isaiah 61:1-3. It reads:
1: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. 2: To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn. 3: To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified."
To do all of these things requires power. Holy Ghost power. It takes the power of the Holy Spirit to make these kinds of changes in people’s lives. This power that I speak of is the anointing. One of the most important steps you can take to get delivered is the injection of the Word of God into your life, spirit and soul. The Word of God is anointed and powerful. How will you know what changes to make in your life if you do not read the Word? Not only must we read the Word, we must become it. To become it and obey it, we must know what it says. It must become a lifestyle, living the Word. Read it everyday. I read it to begin my day and again before I go to sleep. We must become one with the Word. Jesus promised that if we become one with the Word, we would become one with Him. And if we become one with Jesus, we would become one with the Father, and they will dwell in us. How powerful that is and what a wonderful place to be in with the Lord. Would you like to have Almighty God and Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and the Holy Spirit living inside of you? The bible says you can. Jesus says you can. Go for it!!! Become one with the Word of God.
Who needs deliverance and can I go to heaven like I am?
Everyone needs deliverance. If you have flesh, there is a battle going on.
Drugs, alcohol, gambling, sexual perversions, lying, cheating, stealing, adultery, greed, homosexuality, witchcraft, idolatry, lust, hatred, jealousy, anger, selfish ambition, arrogance, envy, murder, wild living, orgies, dissensions, factions, pornography, etc., are all desires and addictions that bind up God’s people causing them to sin and therefore separating them from God. (See Galatians 5-19 to see most of the above mentioned) These lifestyles and actions will not enter the kingdom of God. There is not nor will there ever be, sin in heaven. If any of these things listed above are a part of your life, you need deliverance. You will burn in hell living like this. Some are preaching that everyone will go to heaven. Some are preaching that there is no hell. Some are preaching that God will allow you into heaven, even though you are a practicing homosexual. Sorry, this is totally not true. If this were true, God would have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah. Do you really believe in your hearts that God is going to apologize for the judgment He already passed on these two wicked cities? Come on, let’s keep it real, as the youth of today are so quick to say. God has already stated how we are to live, and if you choose not to, you will burn in hell. I saw hell, and it is real!! I felt it and you don't want to, nor do you have to go to hell.
Jesus has already made a way for all man to live forever with him in heaven and not perish. God is a holy God and He wants His people to live holy lives and separate themselves from the world’s way of doing things.
“We are in the world, but not of the world.” You can be delivered of all these things by the anointing, fasting and the reading of God’s Word. You cannot deliver yourself, that is the job of the Holy Spirit. You can be willing to change and willing to allow the Holy Spirit to have His way in your life.
Deliverance will bring you closer to God than you can even imagine. Deliverance will protect your salvation. Deliverance is the step we must take to walk in the spirit of God. No minister or teacher should ever get behind the pulpit, undelivered. The pulpit is a place of power in the church. If a pastor with a pure heart, gets behind the pulpit, and preaches the love of God, that spirit of love will flow down from the pulpit into the pews and get on the people and they will feel the Spirit of love way down deep in their souls. Now that’s power.
However, on the other hand, if a pastor were to get behind the pulpit and preach hate, this too will flow down from the pulpit and into the pews and get on the people. Now, we have a mess. The pulpit is not a place to play with God or His people. It is a holy place reserved for a shepherd after God’s own heart. Being in the pulpit, undelivered, is a very dangerous place to be with God.
Deliverance starts by being honest with yourself and honest with God. God knows us through and through. He knows our hearts, and our every thought. When we know our minds, hearts, thoughts and desires do not line up with the Word of God, what do we think? That perhaps God has gone on vacation and is not looking? Trust me, God knows all and sees all. You might as well be honest with God. He already knows. Now is the time to say to yourself, “Self, this is not a godly action nor is it a godly thought. I rebuke that thought in the name of Jesus.”
The battlefield for deliverance starts in the mind. Satan attacks the mind with a thought leading to an ungodly desire. If you entertain the thought, the emotions will kick in and then, all that is left, is the flesh going and doing what satan has put in our heads to do. The key is to kill the thought as soon as it reaches your mind. I have heard it preached that the mind is the “Arena where great faith must dominate.” We must want to change and go higher in the Spirit. We must want to be delivered. A lot of people only want what they want. Not what God wants. The God we serve will never change. The Word of God will not change.(although I’ve seen people and other churches try to change the Word to fit their false doctrines and ungodly lifestyles) Again, the Word is eternal and will not change. The Word of God is forever. We are the ones that need to change so that we can live this Holy Word.
Deliverance is getting the junk out of our trunks, as I have heard it so eloquently stated, so that we will be light for the “flight”. God is trying to take each one of us higher in the spirit. That is the “flight.” Higher, we must go to catch the revelations and insights of Almighty God. God wants so much to take us higher. Do you want to go higher with God? Do you want to get closer to God?
I have heard it said that deliverance ministry is like a “boot camp” for Christians. Sometimes it hurts to get delivered. I have heard it called, "The ouch process.” No pain, no gain. Sure, other churches may be easier to hide in, but at a deliverance ministry, there is nowhere to hide, and you will do battle on the front lines daily or you will fall. The nice thing is that when we fall, our pastor will help us to get up, brush ourselves off, and get back in the saddle. Deliverance is nothing to play with. It is as real as heaven and hell. It will keep you out of hell! A deliverance ministry is no joke. It is serious business and only for those serious about getting right before God and receiving all the wonderful things that God wants to bless us with. God is not going to give you abundance unless you are saved and delivered. Otherwise, satan and his demons will take from you the abundance that God want’s you to have, to take care of your household, bless others around you, and build the kingdom of God. Deliverance is to boldly go where no saint has gone before, taking the extra steps with Jesus to become better tools to be used in God’s hands and bring glory to the Father. His will for our lives, not ours. Being sold out for Christ in every area in our lives, holding nothing back, holding onto nothing in this world that would separate us from God Almighty.
Is not my being saved good enough?
Salvation is the entry level into the kingdom of God. You cannot be delivered unless you first get saved. Salvation is really quite simple and a free gift from God. All you must do to be saved is to accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God, believe in your heart that He died on the cross for the forgiveness of sins, ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and repent of them, which is to stop doing them, believe that Jesus rose from the dead, and invite Him into your heart as your Lord and Savior. Another way to say this is that you need to be reborn. You are first born into the world, next you are reborn into the family or Kingdom of God.
I heard a pastor say that unless you die immediately after you get saved, you must get delivered. The thief on the cross next to Jesus, asked that Jesus remember him.
Jesus told this thief that “Today you will be with me in paradise.”
Now had the thief lived and not died, he would have had to get delivered from this type of lifestyle, as no thief could live saved. He would have to stop stealing. Most people cannot just stop because that is all they know how to do. They have a demonic influence that causes them to sin and this requires deliverance.
Salvation is the first step, and next comes deliverance. Once delivered, you will be able to walk, live and work in the spirit, and live a life for Jesus without sinning. Once your flesh is dead, there is nothing for satan to tempt.
A pastor that introduced me to deliverance has been preaching for 45 years, and she got saved when she was 6 years old. God has shown her hell twice and she knows that my testimony is true because, she has seen it herself, with her own eyes. Oh yes, she preaches heaven, hell and judgment day. She preaches with power and always preaches the truth to God’s people. The true Gospel of Jesus Christ, and get this, the whole Word. From Genesis to Revelation. All of it. Not just the pretty, soft, and cuddly messages that are being preached today. She told us that early in her ministry, she would pray for people and they would get healed. She would send them to a church, but the church could not hold them. In other words, they would go to church, but would return to living the way they used to, before they got saved. A lot of them would eventually lose the healing they had received. She asked the Lord, “What more can I do?” The Lord told her to open her own church, and to start a deliverance ministry. He called her, and anointed her to preach deliverance with power and authority, and has done so many miracles through her ministry. She has even raised the dead through the Glory of God. And more than once. About four times as I recall. Cancer has been lifted off her flock. Every one that comes and stays, gets healed, delivered, and so blessed.
Now I was raised in the Episcopal Church, went to a Catholic School, a Lutheran High School, and became a Reverend in the Baptist Church. You better believe that with my religious background, I had never seen anything like what I have seen God do with her deliverance ministry. Most of my early years at her church, I just sat in awe with my mouth dropped open, and just could not believe how God was using her. I had never seen anything like this! I had never heard any one speak in tongues. I had never met someone who could read you like a book. I had never met anyone who could “see” into the spirit realm. I had never seen such miracles of healing and deliverance. I had never even heard of deliverance. So am I saying that God won’t heal at other churches? Of course not! God is a mighty God and does whatever He wants, wherever He wants, whenever He wants, for whomever He desires. I am simply stating a fact that God and this Pastor have shown me things that I never thought possible.
I have witnessed many miracles of healing and restoration of finances. I have even seen such miracles at other ministries I have attended, that do not claim to be a deliverance ministry. I saw the miracle of my life take place right in front of the whole church. I laid before the Pastor, a baby, 5 weeks old that was born with marijuana, cocaine and speed in her system. Like most drug babies, she had a twitch. Glory to God! She came in his church with a twitch, but she did not leave with it!!! This pastor anointed her with holy oil and prayed so hard and God healed her and delivered her completely right then and there, in front of our eyes. This baby girl is now 3 and a half years old. I still see her often, a couple times a week, sometimes more. My God! She is so bright and smart and pretty and anointed! No sign whatsoever that she ever was afflicted. And get this! This same pastor did a series of lessons on deliverance. I was in shock! I could not believe how much he knew and how thorough he was in preaching and explaining deliverance. The weeks went on and he preached deliverance, and each week, it was more anointed than the week before. It took him a few months for him to finish his series on deliverance. It was so awesome.
So what am I trying to tell you? That you do not necessarily have to be at a deliverance ministry to get delivered. There really are not a lot of deliverance ministries, yet, and so hard to find a truly blessed one. God can deliver you right in the place where you are. I’m sure that there are plenty of true men and women of God out there preaching the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you, Jesus!!
How to walk, live, and work in the Spirit
Let us look at another scripture. In the NLT and the King James Version, Galatians:5 starting at verse 13. It reads:
13 (NLT)For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.14 For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “ Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another.
16 (KJV) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
17 (NLT) The sinful nature (flesh) wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
Lets stop a minute and look at this. There is a battle between the spirit and the flesh. This is where fasting and prayer can help, combined with the work of the Holy Spirit, in getting your deliverance. The Word of God, and fasting and praying, build the spirit. Food builds the flesh. By turning over your plate, and fasting and praying, you are letting the flesh know that it will not get everything it desires. Back before I went to hell, my flesh won every battle. I always did whatever it craved. I feed it fat and full with food, drugs, sex, porn and whatever else it craved. The Spirit lost every battle. When I began to fast and pray, the flesh would start losing the battles, and the Spirit would get used to winning. Pretty soon the flesh was always losing the battles, and getting used to it, and the Spirit was used to winning, all the time. Now I was feeling stronger about fasting and prayer. This is what led to my deliverance over the spirits of lust, stealing, lying, cheating, pornography, drinking alcohol, and many other demons that I had.
Jesus delivered me from drugs as soon as I got out of hell. But I had many other demons. Oh, you thought they traveled alone? There was so much evil inside of me that I could not serve God. Fasting, prayer, and being under a deliverance ministry is what got me where I am today. I often wondered if my Pastor would tire of me, and all my demons.(smile) Thank God she didn’t!! She had me fasting, and praying so much, I thought there would be no chicken left to eat, by the time I was delivered!!! I thought it would be all gone!!
She anointed me so often with so much holy oil, I thought I was a butterball turkey, basted and ready for the oven!! When I would leave church, I was dripping Holy oil all the way to the car. It took years, people, of fasting, praying, being prayed over and anointed with Holy oil, and the work of the Holy Spirit to get out all these demons. It is a process that may not occur overnight. But God gives us a lifetime to get it together. I thank God for my Pastor's diligence and patience on my behalf. It would have never happened without fasting. You see, fasting kills the flesh. Flesh must die in order for the Spirit to live.
Jesus said, "These kind only come out with fasting and prayer."
We cannot crucify flesh. The Holy Spirit crucifies the flesh. We just stop eating, which gives the Holy Ghost the freedom to work on these decrepit bodies. We pray that there will be less of us, and more of Him, as the flesh dies and the Spirit grows.
Let us get back to Galatians. We have already read that we can “ Walk in the Spirit,” and not sin.
You cannot be in the Spirit and sin at the same time. So, isn’t it wonderful??? People, we do not have to sin. Christ has set us free. We are no longer slaves to sin. We are children of the Most High God! Free to obey God and His Word! And this is how you do it. Walk in the Spirit! Live in the Spirit! Work in the Spirit! Stay in the Spirit! Hallelujah!!
Verse 19:(NLT) When you follow the desires of your sinful nature (flesh), the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these.(believe it people, I had all of these, and more, hmmmm…..my poor Pastor) Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the kingdom of God.
So, if you will not inherit the kingdom of God, where do you think you are going? There is only one other place for you to go. You will burn in hell forever. That’s it. Plain and simple.
I have heard so few Pastors preach these scriptures. Why? What? No one wants to preach the truth anymore? These scriptures should let you know that a change must take place. People don’t want to change and preachers don’t want to offend the people for fear of losing tithes and offerings.
Only the truth will get you into heaven.
People, please, I want to see each of you get to heaven. I also want each of you to get what God has for you while you are on this earth. Now is the time to seek God like never before. Time is running out and Jesus is coming soon. Real soon. Sooner than you think. Get ready, get ready, get ready!
